1967 Austin Healey Sprite Mk 4

This Austin Healey Sprite Mk 4 is a rare find with its original engine, gearbox and most of its interior including the original banjo style steering wheel. The full restoration of this car involved taking the entire body shell back to bare metal to allow new panels to be introduced and other sections fabricated and welded into place where rusted metalwork and poorly completed previous repairs required removal. Upon arrival with ourselves the condition of this car outwardly didn’t look too bad. However and it is often the case, that when the carpets are lifted and the underseal is removed the full magnitude of the rotten bodywork can be realised.
The car has been finished in its original factory colour Basilica Blue and retrimmed throughout to include full black leather with white piping on the seats in keeping with its original design. Some of the other improvements to this car include black Mohair for the soft top hood and uprated larger front disks and callipers for the brakes. All other components and mechanical parts are stripped down and overhauled/restored as necessary including a rebuilt engine which includes a conversion to run on unleaded fuel.
At the clients request during the restoration the car was converted to Left Hand Drive for export to the USA where the client now retains the car.
With the exception of the specialist engine machining and rechroming of parts, all other works in the restoration were completed by Mortons Classic Cars.
